Manager Tips: Create a Safe Space to Work
Providing a safe space where employees feel comfortable being and expressing their most authentic selves is integral to the well-being of our employees and organization. Teams in which employees feel safe both physically and psychologically benefit from higher levels of trust, resilience, creativity and engagement.
Here are five ways to create both physical and psychological safety on your team:
- Review this manager presentation and these FAQs to get familiar with the global resources available to support your employees’ mental health and discover resources to support your own mental health.
- Review this Manager Guide so you can support the well-being of employees who are currently working at an AECOM worksite or will be transitioning back to the worksite.
- Participate in safety events at your location and encourage your employees to do the same.
- Lead the way by practicing safety at work and holding your team members accountable for following safety protocols and guidelines.
- Discover ways to keep employees connected and well during these difficult times by checking in regularly, building trust, regularly recognizing the contributions of individual team members with the Kudos program and having an open door policy where employees can express their work concerns and celebrate their successes any time.
