Meal Vouchers

AECOM Italy employees receive meal vouchers to help assist with and cover the cost of the mid-day meal. The lunch vouchers are provided on an electronic card. Lunch vouchers will be issued for 7,5€ Euros per working day, even if remotely. No lunch vouchers are given for days not worked (e.g., during public holidays, leave, time off or in the case of business travel when meals are reimbursed from a dedicated expense reimbursement account).

Public Transport

Employees may purchase an annual bus card with monthly payroll deductions.

Retirement (Pensions)

A state-run system of social security operates in Italy, covering illness, maternity, unemployment, retirement, disability and family allowances. This system is financed by contributions from employees and employers, calculated as a percentage of gross remuneration. The contribution rates are paid by employees and the employer. However, the employer is responsible for paying both its own contributions and the employee’s contributions.

The value of contributions is calculated as a percentage of the employee’s salary. On average, employers must currently make mandatory contributions of about 33% of the gross salary of their employees, and the contribution payable by employees is 9.19% of their gross salary.

In addition to the National System, there is a supplementary pension on a voluntary basis. An employee can decide whether to participate or not. If an employee decides to participate, they can choose whether to join by paying into the supplementary pension fund only the severance pay (TFR) or with an additional voluntary contribution. If an employee adds the voluntary contributions, the employer must add an additional percent provided by the collective agreement or company regulation. AECOM’s additional employer contribution is 2%.

Work Accident

It is compulsory in Italy to pay a national insurance contribution to the National Institute for Accidents at Work (INAIL) to cover all professional risks. This insurance covers employees against accidents and occupational disease. In case of accident leave an employee is paid:

  • 60% for the first three days (waiting period)
  • 90% for the 5th through the 20th day
  • 100% from the 21st day

As an additional benefit, AECOM pays to 100% starting from the first day.

Non-professional Accidents

AECOM’s benefits package provides employees with additional insurance coverage for non-professional accidents, which is added to the compulsory occupational accident insurance policy. The non-professional accident coverage aims to protect all employees by providing compensation in the event of death or permanent disability following an accident, not related to work. Insurance for non-professional accidents is subject to the ordinary tax of 2.16 %. The annual taxation will be counted in a single solution every year in the December pay slip.

Disability Insurance

Workers registered with obligatory forms of insurance for Disability, who are no longer able, completely or in part, to return to working activity, are protected by economic benefits (incapacity benefits, disability pension) to help ease the state of need and adverse economic position in which they find themselves.

Short Term Sick Leave

Sickness compensation: Three days of absence from work are paid at 0% by the company. Between the 4th and 20th day of illness, the employee is paid at 75% moving to 100% between the 21st and 180th day. This benefit ends when the illness does. As an AECOM benefit, an employee will receive 100% from the 4th to the 20th day, in the event of an illness involving the absence of the worker for at least 10 calendar days.

By law, an employee is entitled to a maximum of 180 days per calendar year. As an additional benefit, AECOM grants access to unpaid leave for serious family reasons or illnesses up to a maximum of three years.

Marriage Leave

Employees (who completed the probationary period) are entitled to 15 (calendar) days of paid Marriage Leave. The leave can be taken from three days before the wedding and should be used within one year of the wedding.

Medical Coverage and Dependents

All employees and dependents have medical coverage from their first day of employment and can submit requests for reimbursement for health care expenses at affiliated health care facilities.

Fitness

In addition to your global fitness benefits, in Italy, AECOM pays for annual passes to the gym closest to the office, to allow all employees access.

Mental Health

Use myStrength to help build your resilience, manage your stress and improve your mood. Additionally, a Mental Health Ally at country level is the first point of contact for both employees and managers to offer reassurance and support if someone is showing signs and symptoms of mental illness or distress.

Freedom to Grow

As an AECOM employee, you have flexible daily working hours options that provide support beyond normal working hours.

Smart Working Policy

Smart working is considered “a way of implementing an employment relationship” carried out in part at the premises of the company and partly at a different location, without a fixed workplace, but within a maximum duration limit of the daily and weekly work hours established by law and the collective bargaining agreement. Such a way of implementing the employment relationship must be established by written agreement between the parties, also through organization by phases, cycles, and objectives, with the possible use of technological means to carry out the work activity.

Travel Allowance

In case of a business trip, each employee is entitled to the payment of a travel allowance of €15, 49 per day in case of national travel and 25€ in case of foreign travel plus reimbursement of all expenses incurred for meals, accommodation and travel.

Part-Time Contract

In support of work-life balance, AECOM Italy facilitates part-time requests, especially by mothers who return from maternity leave and ask for it, regardless of the percentage threshold prescribed by the employment contract.

Great Vacation Policy

We encourage vacation planning at the beginning of the year and on an annual basis to allow for holiday planning in advance and appropriate planning of all available days.

Bereavement Leave

Every employee is entitled to three days of paid leave per year, to be used in the event of the death or documented serious illness of the partner or relative, up to the second degree or cohabitant. At AECOM, the benefit of three days is extended per event, and not per year.

Tax Service

Compilation of the tax return directly at the company headquarters, where a professional meets the employee during working days. This service is offered and paid as a benefit by the company.
